the initiative
The management of an enterprise is a daily challenge of right decisions at the right time. Globalisa-tion, EU-Enlargement, the current economic weakness, fears of the future, brain drain, and the reali-ties behind these terms – are they really only problems? Or are they rather challenges and chances, taking responsibility for the own future and overcoming unexpected difficulties?
Indeed, there do exist enterprises which are successful even under most difficult conditions. Why? Or asked the other way round: How do they do this? A well-known successful way to be in the lead is watching, comparing and learning from the best. But two things are absolutely necessary and crucial:
Learning from the best is a process and actually never ends. And …
Take your staff with you on this mission and benefit from their skills and competencies.
Regional Partners joined in a network for a visionary project:
- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Frankfurt (Oder) as well as its project company,
- The Chamber of Crafts,
- The Education Centre of the Association Enterprises in Berlin and Brandenburg,
- The German Academy of Employees and
- The University of Applied Sciences Wildau
These partners combine their specific know-how, experience, and points of view for the envisioned activation of effective knowledge especially for small enterprises. For that purpose, all partners of the network provide their know-how, their skills and competences, and their contacts that reach far be-yond the federal state of Brandenburg.
The combined partnership creates ideas and incentives that forward the small companies in our region by strengthen their competitiveness and market position. Focused on the specific needs and capabili-ties of our small regional enterprises, the project accompanies employees, interested owners and managing directors who want to manage their fortunes themselves towards a leading position.
benchmarking & bench-effect
Benchmarking is the comparison with other companies – in fact with the best – and the implied reali-sation of changes in the own company. Actually, even the smallest company does benchmarking. However, this process is not called like that and the process often has no clear structure.
The network "Schrittmacher OderSpree" supports regional enterprises by systematizing this process and therefore raising the learn- or bench-effect, at the same time keeping the efforts at a minimum level. Practically, this means to check the own company: Where does it stand right now? What caused the previous successes? Which are factors show potential? What went wrong and why?
This portrayal of the enterprise, which must be a realistic and critical one, is then compared to the data of the "class winners". In most cases, some gaps will appear – no reason to panic but to act in a de-termined way.
And to act is easier than thought, because it is now very clear what is missing. The identified gaps need to be closed now, realized deficits need to be reduced – supported by tailor-made programmes consisting of qualification, consultation and individual tutoring. As weak areas were identified in the benchmark, the company is now able to concentrate on the true necessities and avoids superfluous qualifications and ad-hoc activities, thus saving time and money. New knowledge and skills are pro-fessionally realised in the company that is increasingly successful. And because the company now knows its way, it has the best chances to become a leader in the game.
